Sharon created "QuakeSafe"KITS in October 2008, inspired by the Emergency Earthquake Preparedness Survival Seminars that she attended in Rancho Mirage, CA 2007 which featured Dr. Lucy Jones, nationally known Earthquake Seismologist, along with Rancho Mirage resident and local earthquake expert Dr. Dennis Mileti who serves on the 911 Commission and lectures throughout the valley on surviving "THE BIG ONE"!

Sharon enlisted her husband Bob to carry the torch of preparedness throughout the Coachella Valley; Bob, EPC Search and Rescue Coordinator for Sun City Shadow Hills, C.E.R.T. Certified, retired Reserve Deputy Sheriff/Search & Rescue to give FREE Earthquake Preparedness Seminars throughout the Coachella Valley and prepare everyone - especially our seniors for ANY disaster.

Dr. Mileti, a professor emeritus of the University of Colorado and former director of the Natural Hazards Center, said "You've got to sell (earthquake preparedness) like they sell Coca-Cola. It has to come through multiple channels, an ongoing stream of information that never ends."
People are also strongly influenced to prepare by seeing their family, friends and colleagues doing so, Mileti said.

We accept that we can't stop natural events, but we can certainly try to be more prepared for when a major earthquake does happen! It is advised that we all have a earthquake disaster plan, shoes by our bed, 1-3 disaster survival kits if possible; one for your CAR, HOME, and OFFICE with copies of your important papers, one dollar bills, medications, prescriptions, extra reading glasses, extra keys, contact telephone numbers, extra water and food eaten 1st from refrigerator, 2nd from freezer, 3rd canned goods.
